In a transcript of an interview from August 20, 2002, Achemez Shagabanovich Gochiyayev, the primary suspect in the 1999 apartment bombings, claims he was framed by an FSB officer from Cherkessk identified as (K.). Gochiyayev alleges that (K.) and another officer, (Kh.), manipulated him into renting warehouses at Guryanova Street and Kashirskoye Highway under the guise of a food business and attempted to do the same in Ryazan in early September 1999. He asserts that after the second explosion, he realized the deception and alerted authorities to additional warehouses at Borisovskie Ponds and Kapotnya. Gochiyayev claims the FSB created a fraudulent 'Chechen trail' using a photomontage of him with Khattab and alleges the special services have issued a liquidation order to prevent him from identifying involved officers. The document notes that the full names of the FSB officers were redacted by the transcript's holders in hopes of selling the information.
