Investigation Status Update

• Persons established by the investigation, in the period from late February to mid-March 2000, illegally stored firearms, ammunition, and explosives in his home at the address: Republic of Ingushetia, Sunzhensky district, Ordzhonikidzevskaya village, Rabochaya St., 68, after which he transferred them to other members of the criminal group.
• Since March 15, 2000, more than 20 searches have been conducted in criminal case No. 22073, during which items and documents testifying to the criminal activities of the accused were seized.
• Currently, all necessary measures are being taken to establish the location and detention of the organizer of the criminal group – Achimez Gochiyayev.
• The established period for the preliminary investigation in the criminal case expires on April 15, 2000.
• It is not possible to complete the investigation within the specified period by making a procedural decision on the case, due to the fact that investigative and operational measures are being carried out in this case.
• In the criminal case, it is necessary to perform a large volume of investigative work related to the detention and interrogation of crime participants, witnesses, the filing of charges, conducting searches, and examining physical evidence.
• This will require an additional investigation period of 3 months.

Decision

Based on the above, guided by Art. 133 of the RSFSR Code of Criminal Procedure, -

DECIDED:

• To initiate a petition before the First Deputy Prosecutor of the Stavropol Territory, State Counselor of Justice 3rd Class R.A. Adelkhanyan, to extend the period of the preliminary investigation in criminal case No. 22073 to 8 months, i.e., until July 15, 2000.
