This document is a written statement by Achemez Shagabanovich Gochiyayev, dated April 24, 2002, in which he denies any involvement in the 1999 Moscow apartment bombings. Gochiyayev asserts he was framed by an old school acquaintance who he believes was an FSB agent; this associate reportedly asked him to rent warehouses for a food business on Guryanova St., Kashirskoye Highway, Borisovskie Prudy, and Kapotnya. He claims that on September 9, 1999, this individual called him about a 'fire' at the Guryanova warehouse, and on September 13, realizing he was being set up, Gochiyayev allegedly contacted emergency services to alert them to the remaining warehouses. The statement denies links to Shamil Basayev or Ibn al-Khattab and rejects the official claim that he trained in Urus-Martan. Gochiyayev also addresses the Ryazan incident by stating he has never visited that city and details the alleged harassment and imprisonment of his family members as state revenge.
