Уважаемый Сергей!

В продолжение нашего телефонного разговора отправляю Вам текст ответа Генпрокуратуры сопредседателям «Либеральной России» В. Похмелкину и С. Юшенкову касательно высказывания председателя Госдумы Геннадия Селезнева на заседании Совета Госдумы 13.09.1999 г. о взрыве в Волгодонске. Этот текст мы нашли в интернете и просим Вас подтвердить его достоверность:

В письме заместителя Генпрокурора С.Фридинского сопредседателям "Либеральной России" В.Похмелкину и С.Юшенкову говорилось: "Ваше обращение по поводу информации председателя Государственной Думы Федерального собрания Российской Федерации Селезнева Г.Н. на заседании Совета Государственной Думы о взрыве в г.Волгодонске рассмотрено в Генеральной прокуратуре Российской Федерации. Как установлено, 12 сентября 1999 года в г.Волгодонске Ростовской области сработало самодельное взрывное устройство, изготовленное на базе ручной гранаты, в результате взрыва пострадало несколько человек, в т.ч. один ребенок. По данному факту прокуратурой г.Волгодонска возбуждено уголовное дело по признакам преступления, предусмотренного ст.ст. 30 и 105 УК РФ (покушение на убийство). 13 сентября 1999 года информация об этом преступлении была распространена отдельными информационными агентствами, в частности РИА "Новости". Именно об этом факте и упомянул в своем выступлении Селезнев Г.Н. Лица, организовавшие и совершившие 16 сентября 1999 года подрыв жилого дома в г.Волгодонске Ростовской области, установлены. В настоящее время предпринимаются необходимые меры, направленные на их задержание. Как следует из материалов расследования данного преступления, взаимосвязи между высказыванием председателя Государственной Думы Федерального собрания Российской Федерации Селезнева Г.Н. во время выступления 13 сентября 1999 года и взрывом жилого дома в г.Волгодонске не имеется".

Dear Sergey!

Following up on our telephone conversation, I am sending you the text of the Prosecutor General's Office's response to the co-chairs of "Liberal Russia," V. Pokhmelkin and S. Yushenkov, regarding the statement made by State Duma Chairman Gennady Seleznyov at a meeting of the State Duma Council on September 13, 1999, about an explosion in Volgodonsk. We found this text on the Internet and ask you to confirm its authenticity:

The letter from Deputy Prosecutor General S. Fridinsky to the co-chairs of "Liberal Russia," V. Pokhmelkin and S. Yushenkov, stated: "Your appeal regarding the information provided by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, G.N. Seleznyov, at a meeting of the State Duma Council about an explosion in the city of Volgodonsk has been reviewed by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. As established, on September 12, 1999, in the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region, an improvised explosive device made from a hand grenade was detonated; as a result of the explosion, several people were injured, including one child. Regarding this fact, the Volgodonsk Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime provided for by Articles 30 and 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder). On September 13, 1999, information about this crime was disseminated by certain news agencies, in particular RIA 'Novosti'. It was this fact that G.N. Seleznyov mentioned in his speech. The persons who organized and carried out the bombing of a residential building in the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region, on September 16, 1999, have been identified. Necessary measures aimed at their detention are currently being taken. As follows from the materials of the investigation into this crime, there is no connection between the statement made by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, G.N. Seleznyov, during his speech on September 13, 1999, and the bombing of the residential building in the city of Volgodonsk."
