Investigation Scope and Activities

In accordance with the investigation plan for the case:

  • Approximately 200 witnesses were interrogated.
  • More than 1,000 people were recognized as victims and interrogated.
  • More than 50 searches and seizures were conducted.
  • About 900 expert examinations were ordered and carried out, including 855 forensic medical examinations.
  • Necessary requests and instructions were sent.

To conduct investigative actions and operational measures, members of the investigative-operational group traveled to the cities of Moscow, Tsimlyansk (Rostov Region), Kislovodsk, Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Krai), Cherkessk, Nalchik, Karachaevsk, and the village of Uchkeken (KChR). During these travels, interrogations of relatives and acquaintances of the accused were conducted to establish their whereabouts, and materials characterizing the personalities of the criminals were collected.

Currently, a complex of operational-search measures is being carried out, including on the territory of the Chechen Republic, with the main goal of searching for the accused Yu.I. Krymshamkhalov, A.O. Dekkushev, and T.A. Batchaev.

Explosion Incident in Volgodonsk

The lists requested from the administration of Volgodonsk indicate about 5,000 people affected by the explosion. As a result of preliminary analysis, it was established that more than 2,000 of them need to be recognized as victims and interrogated.

Argun Explosion (July 2, 2000)

  • On July 2, 2000, in the city of Argun, near the OVD (Department of Internal Affairs) building, a powerful explosive device located in the back of a truck was detonated.
  • The prosecutor's office of the Chechen Republic is investigating criminal case No. 48374 regarding this event.
  • The driver of the vehicle died.
  • A fragment of a head and face found at the scene has a visual resemblance to Yu.I. Krymshamkhalov.

Nevinnomyssk Incident (October 10, 2000)

  • Residents of Nevinnomyssk, N.S. Anisimova and E.L. Ogloda, interrogated as witnesses, explained that a day or two before the explosion at the Kazachy Market, which occurred on October 10, 2000, they saw a man who had a strong physical resemblance to T.A. Batchaev.
  • A complex of investigative and search measures is planned to verify the possibility of Batchaev's involvement in organizing the explosion in Nevinnomyssk.

Conclusion

The period of the preliminary investigation was extended by you in the established manner to fifteen months. However, it was not possible to carry out all planned investigative actions due to their large volume and the lack of data on the whereabouts of the accused.
