O.Ch.: How is the investigation being conducted by the Public Commission progressing?

S.K.: The investigation is progressing slowly, although we are putting in a lot of effort.

O.Ch.: On the anniversary of the bombing on Guryanov Street, statements appeared in the media from some officials almost about the completion of the investigation—saying that the names of both the perpetrators and the masterminds are known. What do you think about this?

S.K.: I treat this with interest and surprise. The interest is understandable: it is very important to hear about the results of the investigation. And not at the level of fragmentary information, but in the form of an official detailed presentation. The circumstances of this terrible tragedy must be presented to society in the most detailed way.

But when you read fragmentary information that all the threads lead to Khattab, that the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks were Caucasians and so on, then bewilderment, of course, arises. I understand that Khattab can be accused of anything now—he can no longer answer anything. And about the perpetrators, everything is also somehow unconvincing. Whoever the mastermind was, the perpetrators in this kind of business will inevitably be Caucasians. Well, which of the masterminds would hire Yakuts for this business?
