Защита Трепашкина
23. В поддержку Михаила Трепашкина выступили правозащитники. С поручительствами отпустить его на свободу под свою личную ответственность (в чем было отказано) выступили такие известные общественные деятели как депутат Госдумы Сергей Ковалев, глава Московской Хельсинкской группы Людмила Алексеева, адвокат и правозащитница Карина Москаленко.
24. Международная комиссия юристов в Женеве выступила с протестом по поводу ареста Трепашкина, назвав его "пародией на власть закона".
25. В письме от 4 ноября 2003 г. группа бывших политических узников, среди них Елена Боннэр и Владимир Буковский, обратилась к организации Amnesty International с призывом признать Трепашкина политзаключенным.

Перспективы судебного разбирательства по делу о взрывах
26. Поскольку Трепашкин выведен из игры, нет объективной независимой информации о том, что происходит в зале суда. Как только Татьяна Морозова узнала об аресте Трепашкина, она обратилась к судье с телеграммой, в которой ходатайствовала вызвать Блюменфельда, Фельштинского, Королькова и Трепашкина в качестве свидетелей по делу о взрывах, а также рассмотреть обстоятельства ареста Трепашкина как препятствия отправлению правосудия. Ответа из суда она не получила.
