Bio
Emir Khattab was a Saudi-born insurgent leader who commanded foreign mujahideen during the conflicts in Chechnya and Dagestan. He was officially designated by the Russian FSB as a central figure in the organization and financing of the 1999 apartment bombings. Following years of leading operations against Russian forces, he was assassinated in 2002 in a covert operation involving a poisoned letter.
