Sergey Kirienko served as the Prime Minister of Russia for three months in 1998. He introduced Vladimir Putin as the new head of the FSB in July 1998. Replaced by Primakov in October 1998. Initially seen as a liberal technocrat, he would eventually become an enthusiastic proponent of the war in Ukraine
