Bio

Savostianov was in the famous 2000 NTV debate where he cast doubt on the FSB version of the Ryazan events. He was Sakharov's deputy, committed democrat. Yeltsin made him head of KGB in 91 in an attempt to control it. By 1999 he was in politics and contemplated a presidential campaign. He went on to have a good career in biz & gov. In 2023 he published a book about his role in breaking up the communist party.
