Bio

Member of the Kovalev commission. Said the following in 2017: "But I would like to continue what Valentin Gefter said, that the authorities were not interested in the investigation and behaved very evasively with our commission. In my opinion, the point is also that the results of the investigation were not of interest, by and large, to society either. Even if it were proven (and it is not legally proven) that the FSB blew up these houses, it would not make much of an impression on voters. Today we see and hear that a fairly large part of the population considers the positive role of Stalin in Russian history, knowing full well that there were mass political repressions. But the cult of strong power, in general, gives them confidence that the government should behave this way. The government is permitted to behave this way in order to be strong, win victories, scare everyone, gnash its teeth, grind its jaws and so on."
